Mr. C.J. Slatton on saxophone

Mr. C.J. Slatton, JHS Director

Mr. Slatton grew up in Paragould, AR and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in December of 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Music Education.  He plays the Saxophone primarily but is considered a woodwind specialist due to performing in various ensembles on several varieties of Saxophones and Clarinets.  He wrote and arranged several pieces for various ensembles on campus, including the Saxophone Ensemble and quartet, Clarinet Ensemble and Quartet, Pep Band, and Marching Band.
 
He graduated from Paragould High School in 2015 and worked on staff with them from 2015-2019, as a visual tech and Woodwind Assistant. He aided in Paragould’s four straight 5A State Championships and several other awards, a tradition of excellence that he looks to carry on at Jacksonville.  Mr. Slatton has also written marching shows for groups in Arkansas and Texas, including National USBands Class 6A champion, Lamar High School.
 
“The Ultimate Oldies Show” and “Rocking the Night Away” are music variety shows that are based in Northeast Arkansas that Mr. Slatton plays Baritone and Alto Saxophone for and he has been participating in since 2015, the groups perform 3-5 times a year at the Historic Collins Theater in Paragould, the Forum in Jonesboro, and also in Rector/Leechville, AR.
